On July 8th, "the songbird of Asia" will raise the roof at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Regine Velasquez has been compared to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston for her beauty and her exquisite vocals. Her music is so popular that her fandom is felt all over the world. Many fans feel that if one singer can easily transcend to the American pop scene, it would be Regine. The "R2K" concert tour is based on her latest special album on the Viva Records label. A special album that is a tribute to the power and the beauty of the old songs from the past and the coming of the new millenium. The choice of the songs on the album were submitted by her fans and the result was seventeen beautiful tracks. The album also comes with a VCD featuring six music videos. The covers include songs by the Carpenters, George Benson, Aerosmith, Dan Fogelberg and more (note: In Asia, it's not rare to hear a popular singer make an all-cover album.)
